BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • If possible, arrive without creams or make-up on the treatment area. Cleansing products are available for your convenience.
  • Pre-treatment photos will be taken.
  • The treatment areas will be wiped with alcohol.

AFTER YOU TREATMENT

  • For the first 4 hours after treatment, keep your head upright.
  • Do not apply pressure touch/or massage the treatment area for 4 to 6 hours to avoid moving the product out of the injected area.
  • Facial exercises following treatment are recommended to facilitate the binding of the toxin in the injected area.
  •  Avoid Retin A, Glycolic acid, Vitamin C, and kinerase for 24 hours following treatment in the areas treated.
  • Avoid aspirin, gingko biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days after treatment.
  • Do not do vigorous exercise, heavy lifting or straining for 2-3 hours following treatment because it takes the toxin approximately 2 hours to bind to the nerve and we do not want to increase circulation and wash the toxin out of the injected area.
  • Pinpoint bleeding may occur and will resolve quickly.
  • Rarely, patients may develop mild bruising and or sensitivity around the injection site. This will resolve within the first week after treatment.
  • Any immediate redness or swelling will subside within an hour and may be covered with makeup.
  • Please report any redness, blisters, or itching immediately if it occurs after treatment. BOTOX

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Rarely, transient headaches are reported. Tylenol may be taken as needed. This is not an indication that each treatment will result in this experience. In fact, Botox injections are indicated for relief of chronic headaches and migraine.

Dermal Filler Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and alcohol for 7 days before treatment.
  • You may wish to use over-the-counter naturopathic treatments such as arnica to prevent bruising.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • If possible, arrive without creams or make-up on the treatment area. Topical numbing cream will be applied to treatment area, please arrive 15-30 minutes early. Cleansing products are available for your convenience.
  • Pre-treatment photos will be taken.
  • The treatment areas will be wiped with alcohol.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • When filler containing anesthetic is used, the anesthetic effect may last for 2-3 hours.
  • Anesthetic may cause some temporary swelling where injected, but this will clear over a few hours.
  • Do not apply pressure to or massage the treatment area. To ensure correction, we will massage the area treated, which may cause a temporary, minimal to moderate amount of redness to your skin.
  • Pinpoint bleeding may occur and will resolve quickly.
  • Any immediate redness will subside within an hour and may be covered with makeup.
  • Rarely, patients may develop mild bruising and or sensitivity around the injection site. This will resolve within 7-10 days after treatment. Apply cold compresses as desired.
  • You may experience a mild to moderate amount of stinging or aching post injection.
  • Temporary minimal to moderate swelling can be expected, which should dissipate following injection. Some patients report dramatic reduction in swelling hours after their treatment.
  • You can apply an ice pack or cold compress to the injection area after treatment to help reduce swelling. If swelling or redness persists, please contact us.
  • It is normal to feel a “firmness” in your injection area for the first few days after treatment. Over time, the area will soften.
  • Avoid touching the area within 6 hours following treatment. After that, the treatment area may be gently washed.
  • Avoid any alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours post treatment. Avoid taking aspirin, non steroidal anti- inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These might increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site

IPL Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • It is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment. This is a must and no exceptions will be made.
  • Avoid applying self-tanner for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Wait 2 weeks after Botox injections and 4 weeks after fillers before your IPL treatment
  • Avoid aspirin and Ibuprofen for one week prior to your treatment. Inform the doctor if you are taking blood thinners or regularly take aspirin or ibuprofen.
  • Inform the doctor if have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past year.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Allow 45-90 minutes for your appointment depending on the size of the treatment area.

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  • Expect your skin to appear pink (resembling mild sunburn) for a few hours after treatment.
  • You may be given a cool compress or cooling gel to apply after treatment.
  • Make-up may be applied to cover redness as needed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment.
  • Brown spots and freckles will appear darker while healing.
  • It will take 4-6 weeks to see the full result and 5 treatments may be required to achieve an optimum result. Some patients require more than 5 treatments, depending on severity of sun damage, wrinkles, and brown spots.
  • The sessions are designed to provide no downtime however, occasionally you may find that your cheeks and under eye areas are slightly puffy after treatment. You may use cold compresses (5 minutes on and 10 minutes off) several times an hour to help ease both redness and swelling.
  • Blistering and crusting are rare; however, if these do occur a thin layer of over-the-counter antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin® can be applied 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Please call us if you experience either of these uncommon reactions.
  • Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin color) can occur in some skin types. Please call us if you experience this uncommon reaction

AFTER CARE

  • Use the Neostrata Essential Recovery Kit for 3-5 days after treatment to help heal the skin.

Laser Genesis Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment.
  • Avoid retinol and glycolic acid products for one week prior to your treatment.
  • Have your Valtrex prescription filled and take starting 1 day before the treatment (if necessary).
  • Shave the area if there is hair. If you have a beard, trim to what would be equivalent to a “2 day shadow.”
  • Drink plenty of water starting 1-2 days before treatment. The procedure tends to dry out your skin.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Wear or bring a button-down shirt so as not to pull anything over the face or across the body after treatment.
  • Arrive to your appointment clean faced without make-up, moisturizers or lotions 30 minutes prior for numbing of the area.
  • Allow 1 hour for your appointment.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • After treatment, you will experience redness, swelling or, after a few days, a bronzed appearance. Most swelling will be noticeable on the first morning after treatment. Swelling usually lasts two to three days.
    • Apply cold compresses to the area for 10 minutes of every hour on the day of treatment, until bedtime, if needed.
    • You can take an antihistamine to also minimize swelling.
  • Noticeable pinkness over the next few weeks. Most resolves during the 1st week. A rosy “glow” can remain several weeks. Heat sensation can be noticeable for 1-3 hours following your treatment.
  • You may feel discomfort. TYLENOL may be taken for discomfort.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Your skin may feel dry, peel, or flake. You may notice a “sandpaper” texture a few days after treatment. This is the treated tissue working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated.
  • Crusting is rare; however, if it does occur a thin layer of over-the-counter antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin® can be applied 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Please call us if you experience this uncommon reaction.
  • Itchiness can occur and an over-the-counter antihistamine can be taken to avoid scratching the delicate skin

AFTER CARE

  • Avoid harsh topical products such as retinols and glycolic acid products for one week after.
  • Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area and use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater for 4-6 weeks after your treatment. We recommend the Elta MD line specific to your skin type and condition.  Elta MD contains Zinc and Titanium Oxide which are the best ingredients for the most effective sunscreen regime. If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. Diligent sunscreen use may lower the risk of laser-induced hyperpigmentation (darker skin color).

Laser Hair Removal Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • It is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment. This is a must and no exceptions will be made.
  • Tanning creams (self-tanner) should be avoided for at least 2 weeks.
  • Inform the doctor/technician if have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past year.
  • Do not tweeze, wax or epilate the area being treated for approximately 4 weeks prior to treatment.
  • The night before treatment thoroughly shave all areas to be treated; skin must be clean and free of all hair.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • If possible, arrive without creams or make-up on the treatment area. If topical numbing cream will be applied, please arrive 15-30 minutes early. Cleansing products are available for your convenience.
  • Allow 20 minutes to 1 hour for your appointment depending on the size of the treatment area.
  • All deodorant will be wiped from the area, so avoid if possible.
  • Just prior to treatment, you will be given eye shields to wear to protect your eyes.

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  • Shortly after treatment, the treated areas may appear as swollen red bumps. Cold compresses will be provided; you may continue to apply these compresses for your comfort over the next 24 hours. We recommend 5-10 minute applications. Treated areas may stay red for several days though swelling will dissipate within a few hours.
  • Treated hairs will appear as small black dots, stubble or as if still growing. You will naturally expel these treated hairs over the next 10-14 days.
  • Avoid irritating the treated area with aggressive exfoliation, such as with a bath puff or scrub. Do not pick at or pluck/tweeze these residual hairs. You may shave these hairs.
  • Treated areas should either be kept out of direct sun light. Sun protection is imperative after any skin laser treatment.
  • Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater for 4-6 weeks after your treatment. We recommend the Elta MD sunscreen specific to your skin care type and condition. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Between treatments you may continue to remove hair by shaving only.
  • Average number of treatments is 4-6 treatments when the treatment schedule is adhered to.
  • Treatments are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the body part being treated. Facial hair is treated at 4 weeks and Body hair is treated at 6 weeks.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment.
  • Avoid applying self-tanner for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid aspirin and Ibuprofen for 2 days prior to your treatment. Inform the provider if you are taking blood thinners or regularly take aspirin or ibuprofen.
  • Avoid alcohol for 2 days prior to treatment.
  • Inform the doctor if you have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past year.
  • Store ice packs in your freezer for use after your procedure.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  • You will need to bring compression stockings and will be required to put those garments immediately following Laser Vein treatment on the legs and wear for 3 days. The compression stockings should be worn during all waking hours and may be removed for showering and sleeping only.
  • No vigorous exercise for 72 hours.
  • Avoid prolonged hot showers and hot tubs for 3 days following treatment.
  • Expect your skin to appear red (resembling sunburn) for 2-3 days after treatment. Make-up may be applied to the face to cover redness as needed.
  • Some bruising may occur with this therapy, this will resolve as the oxyhemoglobin (blood) is absorbed into the body. This can take 4 – 6 weeks.
  • Your face may be quite swollen, particularly around the eyes.
  • Use cold compresses (5 minutes on and 10 minutes off) several times an hour to help ease both redness and swelling.
  • Sleeping with your head elevated for the first 2 nights will help decrease swelling.

Chemical Peel Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • It is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 1 week prior to your treatment. This is a must and no exceptions will be made.
  • We recommend that you avoid the following for at least 1 week before your peel procedure:
    • Electrolysis, Waxing, Depilatory creams, Laser hair removal, and Any exfoliating products.
    • Any products that may be drying or irritating, including products containing salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin c, hydroquinone, retinoid, and prescription medications.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  • It is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of treatment, as it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight.
  • For two days post procedure:
    • Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation. Do not use hot tubs, steam rooms or saunas. Do not go swimming. Do not exercise for a full week. Do not use loofahs or other means of exfoliation.
  • Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post procedure.
  • Do not pick or pull on any loosening skin. This could potentially cause scarring or (PIH) or hyperpigmentation. You can trim the skin with small scissors, but do not force the skin to peel off.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment.
  • After receiving a chemical peel, the skin may look and feel like a mild windburn with itching, stinging, redness, heat and/or tightness for the next few days. After 48 hours of a superficial peel, flaking may occur for 3 to 5 days which can easily be controlled with moisturizers.

AFTER CARE

  • Use the VI Post Peel Kit or Neostratta Essential Recovery Kit for 3-5 days to help heal the skin.
  • Follow the specific instructions with the VI Post Peel Kit to get maximum peeling.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • It is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 1 week prior to your treatment. This is a must and no exceptions will be made.
  • We recommend that you avoid the following for at least 1 week before your peel procedure:
    • Electrolysis, Waxing, Depilatory creams, Laser hair removal, and Any exfoliating products.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Your skin may experience temporary irritation, tightness, or redness. These are all normal reactions that resolve within 72 hours depending on skin sensitivity.
  • You may experience a tingling and stinging sensation during treatment. These sensations subside 3 hours of treatment.
  • Client experiences may vary. Some people may experience a delayed onset of the previously mention. Contact us immediately if any unusual side effects occur or is symptoms worsen over time.

AFTER CARE

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area and use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater for 4-6 weeks after your treatment. We recommend our Elta MD Line specific to your skin care needs.  Elta MD contains Zinc and Titanium Oxide which are the best ingredients for the most effective sunscreen regime.

PDO Thread Lift Treatment Instructions

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and alcohol for 7 days before treatment.
  • You may wish to use over-the-counter naturopathic treatments such as arnica to prevent bruising.
  • You will be prescribed antibiotics prophetically to avoid infection post procedure.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • If possible, arrive without creams or make-up on the treatment area. Topical numbing cream will be applied to treatment area, please arrive 15-30 minutes early. Cleansing products are available for your convenience.
  • Lidocaine wheals will be injected before insertion of the threads.
  • Pre-treatment photos will be taken.
  • The treatment areas will be wiped with alcohol.

AFTER CARE

  • It may take a minimum of two plus weeks for treatment results to become noticeable.
  • Minor bruising and swelling is normal and to be expected.
  • Minor pain at the injection site is normal and to be expected. Pain may last up to a week post treatment.  Paracetamol can be taken if required.  It is advisable to avoid anti-inflammatories (such as Ibuprofen) as they can suppress new collagen formation
  • Asymmetry and irregularity of tissues treated is common post treatment and usually resolves itself.
  •  Azithromycin 500mg to take for 7 days starting on the day of the procedure, to reduce the risk of infection will be prescribed post treatment. Please take the full course regime.
  • Avoid exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid excessive chewing and hard foods for 3 days post treatment. Do not drink through a straw.
  • It is important not to overstretch the treated area (i.e. open the mouth wide) for 4 weeks (avoid dental treatment during this time if possible)
  • To avoid additional swelling, sleep with head elevated for 2-3 days post treatment.
  • Avoid massaging treatment area(s) excessively.
  • Gently wash the treated area as required, but do not rub or massage for 2 weeks.
  • Do not have any other aesthetic procedures (such as toxins, fillers, peels etc.) for 7 days
  •  Avoid extreme temperatures, alcohol and anti-coagulants for 7 days.
  • Don’t not wear makeup or apply facial creams for 48 hours following treatment.
  • Those taking prescribed anticoagulants such as aspirin/warfarin must continue to do so but must be aware that bruising is more likely.
  • Do not have Radio-frequency, IPL, Laser or other heat treatments near the treated area for 10 weeks
  • Please contact us If you experience increased redness, swelling or pain at the injection site. If one or more threads begins to extrude or  If you have additional questions or concerns regarding your treatment / treatment follow-up.
