Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s):

How Does it Work?

The PDO Thread Lift uses threads that are made of soluble PDO (polydioxanone), which is a material that has been used in medicine for many years, mainly in surgery.  There are different types of threads, some are smooth, some twisted, and some have barbs for lifting. The threading techniques increase collagen formation and volumize the tissues while tightening the skin through formation of fibrous tissue around the threads.   The threads will give the skin an immediate, natural improvement in appearance. After about 2 weeks, the process of natural body protein synthesis begins and continues over a period of two years, keeping the texture of the skin smooth and supple.

What can I expect during the treatment?

During a PDO Thread Lift the threads are inserted into the skin through a very fine needle. Depending on the area to be treated, the thread is introduced into the skin itself, the subcutaneous fat, or the muscle. A lifted appearance can be seen immediately following the treatment, however, the results will improve in the following days and weeks as the PDO stimulates and produces new collagen. The overall texture of the skin is improved; it becomes thicker, tighter and firmer and fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed away.

Which areas can be treated with the thread lifting?

The threads are very versatile and can be used all around the face and neck. They can treat vertical and horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, laxity in brows and cheeks, pronounced nasolabial and marionette folds, sagging jawline and neck, and improve folds and wrinkles on the chin.

What are the results?

Immediately after a procedure you may be slightly pink and experience bruising.  Sometimes a dark line can be visible where certain threads have been inserted, this will resolve over the following week. The area treated will feel tighter and results are visible immediately, though results vary from person to person. Over the following months the threads will stimulate collagen while they are gently broken down by the body’s immune system.

Is it Safe?

There is no downtime and you may resume normal activity the next day.  Minor side effects are rare but may include infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness, and slight asymmetry which will resolve over a few weeks after the procedure.

Are there contraindications?

Contradictions to thread face lifts include multiple skin allergic reactions or infections, dandruff, hair lice, immunological compromising diseases like cancer/ HIV etc., systemic diseases like diabetes and tuberculosis.
