Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment comprised of a series of injections designed to visibly minimize spider and varicose veins. The injections are made directly into the affected areas, causing visibility of the veins to fade over time.
What is sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a safe, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to minimize and eliminate the appearance of both spider veins and varicose veins. During varicose vein treatment in The Woodlands, a solution is injected directly to the vein, weakening it and causing deterioration over time. As a result, blood is forced to flow through different veins and the treated vein fades or disappears completely.
What happens during sclerotherapy treatment?
Prior to the procedure you will be directed to avoid shaving or applying any lotion, self tanner, etc. During your appointment your legs will be slightly elevated, the area will be cleaned, and you will receive an injection of solution straight into the vein. You may feel a stinging or pinching sensation, some minor pain or cramping, but this won’t last. The procedure takes about 30 minutes depending on the veins being treated. After the procedure, you may have some bruising, swelling, or redness but this is temporary.
What is recovery like for Sclerotherapy?
Downtime is minimal and most patients resume daily activities immediately after their spider vein treatment in Spring TX, though you will need to wear compression socks and avoid strenuous exercise for a couple of weeks. Depending on your treatment needs and goals, you will begin to see results in as little as three weeks and it may take up to four months to see final results.
